After leading some multi-partner international R&D programs in the medical device field, Dr. Andre Faure, a dynamic, business-minded physician with a technical background, determined it to be advantageous to situate all his future projects in a geographic region where the basic technologies necessary for development of medical devices could be easily sourced. Technologies for producing minimally invasive medical devices for defined soft tissue ablation are closely related to micro mechanics, including precision polymers. Because of it's historical significance as a watch-making region, the geographic area located between France and Switzerland, houses a wealth of highly-skilled micro mechanics manufacturers. For this reason, Dr. Faure decided that this was the perfect place to base his R&D business.
In 2005, in cooperation with a major European micro mechatronics research center, Dr. Faure launched a new project based on one of his patented inventions, a radio frequency device for percutaneous soft tissue ablation- Encage. Dr Faure tapped the resources of his international network for the additional partners (clinical, etc.) needed for project completion. Upon completion of the feasibility phase, Andre Faure founded, Trod Medical®, in July 2006.
Trod Medical's Encage is expected to be FDA cleared second quarter of 2008 and will be introduced at the AUA-Orlando in May 2008. Trod Medical expects to open their USA based subsidiary in Florida in Q3 2008.
Trod Medical® acquired two additional patented devices for RF soft tissue ablation. Application for FDA approval will be submitted in the near future.
